Making it home

It’s Sunday today, my self-appointed post-a-new-blog day, and I am just sitting down to write. I’ve been struggling with what to write about this week. We didn’t have a big, obvious project. No gross messes or dramatic finds. I didn’t take many pictures (in fact, I’ll probably take some between now and posting, so I have some to include ๐Ÿ™ƒ)

This week has mostly been settling in, making this place feel more like our home. We worked a lot on our bedrooms, brought our plants inside, started putting up artwork, that kind of thing. It also feels like we’ve done more thinking kinds of work than doing kinds of work…reestablishing our eBay presence, figuring out other sales methods, trying to figure out social media – what to film, how to film, learning editing software…it’s a lot. But I’m not quite sure how to write about that, or if you even care to read about it ๐Ÿค”. Ya’ll are here for dramatic before-and-afters and weird, interesting finds, not our personal lives…right? I don’t know – I’ve never done this before. You tell me! But since I don’t have anything else to write about this week, here it is.

Our 11 (this week!) year old’s room is basically finished – we tile-gamed all that stuff back into the closet and likewise with the furniture and Iris’s stuff, so we could get the rug down (I don’t have pictures of any of that, but do have video, which I hope to get posted soon, see above re: learning video editing ๐Ÿซ . Now we’re just putting up art…and of course picking up and putting away, but that’s never ending ๐Ÿ˜‚.

It’s Monday now…I obviously didn’t get this written and posted yesterday. Instead of writing, I worked on our bedroom and the bathroom, and generally putting things where they should be…or at least where they make me happy ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Our bedroom is all but finished. I have a few more pieces of art I’d like to put up, we need to swap out the TV (because ours broke during the move ๐Ÿ˜ญ), and I need a full-length mirror. I have not yet been able to find a full-length mirror, though I’m sure there are a dozen here somewhere – and we have more not full-length mirrors than we know what to do with ๐Ÿคฃ

mirrors, mirrors, everywhere, but not the one I need…

We have had a tendency in years past to bring our plants inside in a semi-panic at the first frost warning ๐Ÿ˜‚. Obviously, we couldn’t do that in our current circumstances – we had to figure out where to put them first! The logical place for the bulk of the plants was the dining room – we had the window space, just needed to put in a shelf…no biggie ๐Ÿคฃ

less tile game, more maze ๐Ÿ˜‚

I have one more plant not pictured above – Annie Ivy, a plant bought for me by a dear friend in…๐Ÿค”…2002 ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I’ve had that plant longer than I’ve been with my husband ๐Ÿ™ƒ. Annie will have a place of honor, but I’m not 100% sure where that will be…I’d like to put her in the upstairs parlor, but we can’t even get in that room at the moment ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ. For now, Annie is chilling in the living room, but I don’t want to fully unfurl her until she has a place to stay. I could have sworn I had a picture of just the plants in our kitchen in NH, with Annie having completely taken over the window, but I couldn’t find that, so here is the best I can do…

Stay tuned for updates on Annie! Or you know, the house, the stuff, the family, whatever I end up writing about next๐ŸŽƒ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฆ‡๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ‘ป

Happy birthday to Iris! May Miss 11 feel well supported by all the creatures in her beautiful room. It’s fun to see Miss 10 happy in a box. Please give her my love, Leah
